School Performance and Assessment

The DFE reformed primary assessment in 2015-2016.

This included a new ‘expected standard’ (a higher standard than in 2015), along with new national curriculum tests with outcomes reported as scaled scores ranging from 80 to 120, rather than levels for those children in KS2.

End of KS1 Results - 2018 - unvalidated

Subject % Achieving Expected Standard % Achieving at Greater Depth
Reading 62%  20%
Writing 54%  2%
Mathematics  60%  10%

KS2  Progress Measures - 2018 - unvalidated

The new progress measures are a type of value added measure, which means that pupils’ results are compared to the actual achievements of other pupils nationally with similar prior attainment.
Subject Progress Score
Reading -0.9
Writing -3.3
Mathematics -3.1

End of KS2 Results - 2018 - unvalidated

Key stage 2 test results are reported as scaled scores between 80 and 120, with 100 as the national standard. Scaled scores are not given for writing as this is teacher assessed.
