Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA)

An ELSA is a specialist teaching assistant who has received training in emotional literacy support.

ELSA’s are trained by and receive regularly termly supervisions from Educational Psychologists.

An ELSA is a warm, caring and nurturing person who works to help the child feel emotionally supported in school so that they are able to reach their potential educationally and personally.

ELSA support usually runs for 6-8 weeks in a 1:1 session but there are also social groups and wellbeing interventions that have different durations. Additionally, there are wellbeing check ins that can be arranged if appropriate.

We can support with a range of concerns including – Emotional literacy, Regulation, Self Esteem, Positive Relationships, Emotional Regulation and more.
