Parent Forum

What is the Meadhurst Parent Forum?

 The Meadhurst Parent Forum is a valuable means by which the school consults with the parent body to share ideas, concerns and make suggestions for improvements.  Since its inception the forum has gathered feedback from parents.  The feedback is then used by the school to improve in areas such as:

  •  Home School Agreement 
  • Communication 
  • Parental engagement
  • Homework
  • School enrichment
  • Uniform

 Terms of Reference

Members of the parent forum adhere to the following terms of reference:
The parent forum is a body of parent representatives.  The forum:

  • Is a constructive tool with which the head teacher may consult the parent body 
  • Is a conduit to feed information from the parents to the school and from school to parents

 When asking for feedback from parents, forum members should; 

  • adopt a neutral stance and not offer or promote their personal view 
  • not be drawn to become involved in any other course of action 
  • remember that the forum has an advisory and consultative role and that the school remains the decision maker

How often does the Parent Forum meet?

The forum meets once every half term. The agenda is circulated prior to the meeting. Prior to the meeting, the parent forum members consult with the parents of their class and bring the feedback to the meeting. 

What will be discussed at the meetings?

 The meetings are informal and an opportunity for open discussion. During the meeting the forum share their views and collectively draws ideas to share with the School Senior Leadership Team. Minutes are taken and outcomes are shared with the whole school community.  

What will not be discussed at the meetings?

 The forum does not discuss specific areas of concern around individual children or issues.

How can parents and carers participate in the School Forum?

 Any parent or carer may nominate themselves to become a member of the forum. One parent  or carer represents each class. Nominations for members are invited at the beginning of the school year and during the year when a vacancy arises.  A random selection will take place where nominations are received from more than two parents for a class.
