Update 12th May 2020
Further to yesterday’s communication on the next phase of schools opening more fully, we wish to reassure you that we are working through the various Government guidance documents issued overnight. We will provide an update on the development of our plans by the end of the week.
Update 11th May 2020
Following the Prime Minister’s announcement last evening and additional statements from Downing Street, we would like to clarify our position that the majority of school age children are home-learning and that currently school sites remain open only to key worker and vulnerable children. We are awaiting further details from Government and hope to be able to provide more information later in the week.
Dear Parents and Carers
We apologise for the difficulties we had in communicating with you yesterday. The commercial systems used by most schools up and down the country for communicating with parents were, it seems, all overloaded by the sheer volume of schools using them. While such issues are beyond our control, please be assured that we always use the school website as back up and so it is always worth checking this on a regular basis. https://www.meadhurst.org/
In terms of identifying the pupils who will be in school next week, the DfE published its official list of key workers very late last night and therefore we are asking that, if you could not find your employment post on the form sent yesterday, and you believe you fall into one of the categories listed, please re-send the form, filling out the final box for ‘other’.
If you believe you have circumstances that require your child to be in school, but you are not listed in the official categories, please get in touch and we will review each request on a case-by-case basis.
The official Government advice is that if it is at all possible for children to be at home in the coming weeks, then they should be in order to help to keep the infection spread contained.
Therefore, if you need to register your child in the light of the latest information, please urgently complete the online form, hard copies of which are also available from the school office.
Thank you for your patience and support.
